WILD - BEAR

MAY -  OCTOBER

Equipment: hiking stuff, binoculars (if necessary by us)
Clothing: hiking clothes (warmer, lighter), casual clothes

Around 1,150 bears live in Estonian forests. Bear watching takes place from forest huts, and there's a good chance of hearing the howling of wolves as well. There's also time for birdwatching. Bear watching is a quiet activity, and peace and patience are key factors in this exciting experience.
The bears mating season lasts from mid-May to mid-June. Winter hibernation typically begins in November and lasts until March or April. Cubs are usually born in January, and female bears give birth to cubs every other year. An adult bear can weigh over 200 kg.

In terms of area, Estonia is one of the bear-richest countries in the Nordic region, if not all of Europe. Bears are primarily nocturnal and typically move during the day only if disturbed. In the fall, when berries are ripe, they may be seen more often during the day. Generally, bears travel about 2-3.5 km per day. Adult males roam widely. Bears are usually solitary, but an abundant food supply can attract many bears to the same location.

WILD - BIRDS

APRIL -  OCTOBER

Equipment: hiking stuff, binoculars (if necessary by us)
Clothing: hiking clothes (warmer, lighter), casual clothes

The first week of May is the peak time for birdwatching. Migration is still in full swing, and late breeders from the south have already arrived. Owls, woodpeckers, gamebirds, and songbirds are all active. At the same time, large migrating flocks of geese, ducks, and waders are on the move. Everything is buzzing, flying, chirping, and whistling. This is exactly why Estonia is considered one of the best birdwatching destinations in the world.

A nature guide will be happy to introduce you to the incredibly diverse world of birds, showing you how to find and identify them. One of the main reasons for the growing popularity of birdwatching is the availability of high-quality optics.

Every birdwatching experience is unique and one of a kind. Quietly observing the lives of birds while being immersed in pristine nature is truly invaluable.

WILD - SEAL

ALL SEASONS

Equipment: hiking stuff, binoculars (if necessary by us)
Clothing: hiking clothes (warmer, lighter), casual clothes

The gray seal is the largest mammal in the Baltic Sea. The males have a brownish-gray fur on their backs with large dark spots, while the females are lighter in color. Adult males can grow to over 2 m in length and weigh up to 300 kg. Females are smaller. There are approximately 4,000 gray seals living in Estonian waters.
If the winter is mild and the ice layer does not form on the sea, seals will give birth on the coast. In such cases, it is crucial that people do not disturb the seals and their pups, and they should not approach them. It's important to keep a distance and observe from afar, preferably with binoculars.

An experienced seal expert will guide you to the best spots for observing these animals and will tell you about their way of life. Seal pups, which are especially adorable, are born usually from late February to early March. These tiny white furballs are delightful to watch through binoculars from the shore.
